On USF’s design team, I immersed myself with humane intent in Dante’s Inferno for filmmaker Christopher Coppola’s epic descent through Hell’s nine circles.
Starting with sketches of Limbo’s quiet exiles and building to Treachery’s frozen betrayers locked in ice, I visualized each punishment, lashing winds for lust, putrid muck for gluttony, fiery tombs for heretics, as raw, filmable sets that mix brutal monumentality with creeping decay.
Multiple reviews with Coppola sharpened every detail, turning those pages into architecture that grabs the camera and drags you straight through the Inferno’s tightening rings.
